Historical note:
It is an ancient Friulan vine with typical features. It
is undoubtely the best among Refosco vines and among
Friulan red wines as well. Once well-known in 18th
century, in the last decades it has been grown a lot all
over the region, replacing other Refosco crops, that
yield more in quantity but offer a minor value.
-
Features:
With burgundy red colour turning to violet, its bouquet
is softly intense, with dewberry and brushwood hints.
It is tasty, lightly tannic, full-bodied, bitterish,
with persistant and delightful aftertaste. When new it
is winey, fragrant, lightly herbaceous. It serves to be
one-two years aged, especially if grown in very good
vintages. To be preferably served with: perfectly
matching with fat meats, poultry, stews, except game
flavoured with hot sauces. It is recommended with
typical Friulan cuisine. To be served at 16-18 °C.
