Historical note:
From Mondini’s book (1903 – Foreign wine varieties
cultivated in Italy): “The fully-grown leaves of Chardonnay
are generally characterized by no parenchyma at the bottom
of peziolare sinus, at the beginning of the first two side
veins. This detail does not correspond to the true Pinot
kind. In 1978 the D.M. (Ministerial Decree) 24.10 included
Chardonnay in the “National register of wine varieties”. It
is distributed in Lombardy, Trentino-Southern Tyrol,
Friuli-Venetia Julia.
