Historical note:
It is also called Gewürztraminer and Rosé Traminer
Sauvagnin. According to the ampelographer Rovacenda this
variety comes from Alsace, Palatinate and Wüttenberg
regions, being there cultivated since 16th century.
According to other ampelographers the original place for
flavoured Traminer should be Tramin, in Italian Tyrol.
The root Tramin may have changed in Traminer when the
Southern Tyrol was part of the Hapsburg Empire. It is
mostly grown in Italian Tyrol, Trentino and Friuli.
